JERSEYVILLE,  A thriving post village, capital of Jersey county, is situated on the line of the Jacksonville, Alton and St. Louis railroad, on a prairie 71 miles south-west from Springfield, and about 10 miles from the Mississippi river; it contains a court house and a newspaper office. Chas. H. Jackson, Postmaster.
