LINDEN,  A post village of Atcheson county, Polk township, five miles from Rockport, the county seat, 400 miles from St. Louis, and 290 miles from Jefferson City. There are two stage lines, one to Council Bluffs, 70 miles, and to St. Joseph, 80 miles. The town contains one High School, one Baptist. one Campbellite, and one Methodist Church, one Odd Fellows’ lodge, viz., Linden, No. 93. Its business consists of one attorney, one ambrotype artist, two blacksmiths, two boot makers, one brick yard, one broom maker, four carpenters, one wagon maker, one dentist, one grocer, one general store, one gunsmith, one hotel, two physicians, one real estate agent, one steam saw and grist mill, and one tailor. The chief productions are corn, wheat and oats. Timber, bur-oak, walnut and linn. Unimproved land may be bought for $5 per acre, and improved for $12.
