CASSVILLE, a small post-village, capital of Barry county, Missouri, on the road from Jefferson City to Fayetteville, Arkansas, 200 miles S. W. from the former. Laid out in 1846. Population, about 400.  (Baldwin's New and Complete Gazetteer of the United States..., 1854)

CASSVILLE   The county seat of Barry county, on Flat creek, about 300 miles from St. Louis, and 220 miles from Jefferson City.  It contains four stores, one Masonic lodge, (John Dade, No. 144) and three churches, viz., Presbyterian, Methodist and Christian.  The average price of cultivated lands $8; uncultivated $5 per acre.  The country surrounding Cassville abounds in minerals of lead, zinc and iron.  The chief products are corn, wheat, &c.  Population 300.  County Sheriff, J.G.
