HENNEPIN   A thriving post village, capital of Putnam county, on the left bank of the Illinois river, 115 miles north from Springfield. Steamboats navigate the river between its mouth and Hennepin, in all seasons except winter; it has an active business in shipping produce, the value of which Is estimated at about one million dollars annually.
