KINGSTON, The county seat of Caldwell county, Blythe township.  It is a flourishing village situated between Shoal and Log creeks, 250 miles from St. Louis, 140 from Jefferson City.  The town was first settled by the Mormons in 1834.  The post office has been established about 19 years.  There are two stage lines from Kingston --- one from Richmond to Gallatin, 50 miles, tri-weekly, and a daily line from Lexington to Hamilton.  The town contains one regular district school.  The Masons have a dodge called Mirabile Lodge, No. 166, situated six miles from Kingston.  The chief productions are corn and wheat.  The timber oak, elm, walnut and cottonwood.  Improved land may be bought for $12.50 per acre, and unimproved for $7.50.
