OREGON  The county seat of Holt county, Lewis township, near the Missouri river, 20 miles above St. Joseph.  It was first settled in 1845, by W. Zook.  It contains three churches, one Masonic lodge, one Odd Fellows lodge, one female seminary.  Population 900.  B.B.
